Maisa

Maisa is a Straight Egyptian Al Khamsa mare of impeccable pedigree. She combines the best of New Egyptian and Babson bloodlines. Her sire MFA Saygah was very consistent in breeding conformationally correct offspring. MFA Saygah is an Egyptian Prince son out of RDM Maar Halima (3 quater sister to RDM Maar Hala). Maisa's dam is AS Bint Nahida, a Nabiel daughter out of Ruminaja Nahida (paternal sister to Ruminaja Ali). Maisa is also a rare treasure to our breeding program, since she conceived in America, prior to her dam's exportation to South Africa. There are only two offspring of MFA Saygah in South Africa, a stallion called Arabest Shaam, and Maisa.

Maisa has a special place in our hearts. She had a near death experience, when she and another mare collided. She had nerve paralyses in the shoulder, and couldn't walk for ten months. She did manage to stand and lie down when she got too tired, and moving forward consisted of a little jump on the healthy leg. She was four months pregnant when the injury occured and carried her foal to full term. She gave birth to a beautiful filly. Maisa is slowly getting better now, and is starting to put weight on her injured leg. During Maisa's confinement in a stall, she never became agitated or stressed, and to prove her courage, and typical Arabian sensibility, she had all her regular hoof trimmings lying down without drugs or restrain.
